Strengthen the Commitment to Investment and Local Production, Opening the Largest Refrigerator Factory in Indonesia
JAKARTA - Midea Electronics Indonesia officially invites its main dealers to visit the refrigerator factory located in Indonesia as part of the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening investment, local production, and support for the growth of the household electronics industry in the country.
The presence of this refrigerator factory is an important milestone for Midea Electronics Indonesia after previously presenting an air conditioner (AC) factory in 2024 and a washing machine factory in 2025 in Indonesia. This factory is also the first and only one in Indonesia that is capable of producing side-by-side refrigerators and chest freezers in one integrated production facility.
Located in the Suryacipta Karawang industrial area, this latest refrigerator factory is built on an area of more than 150,000 square meters with an annual production capacity that is planned to reach more than 2 million units per year. This factory is projected to be one of Midea’s main refrigerator production bases to meet the growing domestic needs as well as export markets to various countries. With the scale of production and capacity owned, this makes Midea’s refrigerator factory the largest refrigerator factory in Indonesia.
The presence of this factory also makes a real contribution to the absorption of local labor, by opening thousands of new job opportunities for the people around Karawang and its surroundings, both in the production sector, operations, and other supporting supply chains. In addition to supporting regional economic growth, this step is also part of Midea’s efforts to improve the competence of Indonesian workers through the development of modern technology manufacturing industries.
This investment also shows Midea’s support for the Indonesian government’s policy in encouraging increased foreign investment, strengthening the national manufacturing industry, and accelerating the use of domestic products. Through the expansion of this production facility, Midea hopes to continue to contribute to national economic growth while strengthening Indonesia’s position as one of the centers of production of household electronics in the regional area.
President Director of PT Midea Electronics Indonesia, Jack Ding said the construction of this production facility is a manifestation of Midea’s seriousness to continue to grow together with business partners and consumers in Indonesia.
“This factory is a symbol of Midea’s long-term commitment in Indonesia. We want to provide better quality products, more flexible delivery, faster services, and features that are increasingly relevant to the needs of Indonesian consumers,” said Jack Ding, at the inauguration of the factory in Karawang, on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Through the strengthening of local manufacturing facilities, Midea also seeks to increase supply chain efficiency, accelerate product distribution, and open more job opportunities for the Indonesian people. This step is also part of the company’s strategy in supporting the development of the national industrial ecosystem and increasing the level of local content.
Vice President of PT Midea Electronics Indonesia, Michael Adisuhanto, said that this continued investment is part of Midea’s vision to make Indonesia one of the strategic production centers in Southeast Asia.
“With the strengthening of local production, we not only support the needs of the domestic market but also open up opportunities to support export operations in the Southeast Asian region. We believe that strong collaboration with dealers and partners will be the foundation for future joint growth,” said Michael.
On the same occasion, President Director of the Refrigerator Factory Midea Electronics Indonesia, Ye Tao explained that this latest production facility was designed with modern manufacturing standards and focuses on product quality and technological innovation.
“We hope that the presence of this factory can add value to the Indonesian market while showing Midea’s manufacturing capabilities and product innovation that continues to grow,” said Ye Tao.
