The Bogor City Government has demolished several street vendor (PKL) stalls around the former Plaza and Pasar Bogor in the Suryakencana area of Bogor City. The enforcement is part of the plan to reorganise the former Plaza and Pasar Bogor area, which will be turned into a parking building and a culinary zone.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim stated that no more buying and selling transactions are allowed on the land of the former Plaza and Pasar Bogor. Dedie asked the vendors to trade at two relocation points: Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong Sukasari.

“So we ensure that, in accordance with the agreement last November, PKL in the Pasar Bogor and Plaza Bogor areas will no longer trade around here, and we encourage all to go to Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong Sukasari,” said Dedie on Thursday (26/3/2026).

Previously, vendors and stall owners at Pasar Bogor PKL refused to be demolished and held a protest at the Bogor City Hall in November. As a result of the meeting, the Bogor City Government allowed vendors and PKL stall owners to trade until Eid al-Fitr.

“This is an anticipatory step if there are still naughty vendors, as I mentioned yesterday. My message is how we optimise the existence of the two markets we have built. First is Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong Sukasari,” he added.

Dedie said that Pasar Jambu Dua and Pasar Gembrong in Sukasari, Bogor City, have been completed renovated and serve as relocation points for Plaza and Pasar Bogor vendors. Pasar Jambu Dua, according to Dedie, can accommodate 1,200 vendors, and Pasar Gembrong can accommodate 600 vendors.

Dedie stated that trading can only be done inside the market area. Therefore, there are no PKL stalls trading outside the building and harming vendors who have rented kiosks. PKL enforcement is also carried out at other points in the Suryakencana area, including Jalan Pedati, Lawang Saketeng to Jalan Bata.

“There are 9,000 vendors in 14 markets in Bogor City that we also need to protect. They buy kiosks, they pay levies, pay electricity, they can’t compete with PKL,” said Dedie.

Former Pasar and Plaza Bogor Building Becomes Parking Area

Dedie said that the Suryakencana area will be organised in such a way, one of which is the construction of a parking building in the former Plaza and Pasar Bogor area. The development of the parking area is hoped to be a solution to congestion around Bogor Botanical Gardens.

“So around the Botanical Gardens, it’s congested, right? Why? It turns out that KRB visitors are more than 1 million per year, and there are no parking facilities. Why? Because the botanical gardens are conservation land, the land cannot be used for anything other than conservation,” explained Dedie.

“Well, the Bogor City Government wants to provide support so that they can maintain the conservation land, and the City Government will build the parking land. Where? At the location of the former Pasar Bogor and Plaza Bogor. That’s a step that I think has mutual interconnection and hopefully mutual support, synergy, and contribution,” he added.
