Street Robber in Bali Boldly Attacks Doctor in Broad Daylight, Uses Electric Shock on Victim Before Seizing Car

A man with the initials AF (37) has been named a suspect by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Denpasar Police, Denpart Denpasar. This follows an incident where the individual attempted to hijack a car belonging to a doctor.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Denpasar Police, Iptu Azel Arisandi, stated that the perpetrator is being charged under Article 479 in conjunction with Article 17 of the Criminal Code regarding attempted theft with violence. Police have seized evidence including an electric shock device, scissors, pliers, adhesive tape, ropes, cable ties, and a pair of gloves.

Arisandi explained that the attempted carjacking of the doctor, identified by the initials JRR (25), occurred on Jalan Tukad Barito Timur, Panjer, South Denpasar, on Sunday, 31 May 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM WITA. The victim sustained injuries after being shocked by the perpetrator.

The victim had visited an optical shop on Jalan Tukad Barito Timur and parked her red sedan in front of the store. Upon returning to her vehicle and starting the engine, she had inadvertently left the doors unlocked. At that moment, the perpetrator approached on foot, opened the car door, and used an electric shock device to attack the doctor, who is originally from Makassar. The victim was then pulled from the vehicle as the perpetrator attempted to enter the car. The victim’s cries for help drew bystanders, who managed to apprehend the suspect. The South Denpasar Police have taken the man, who hails from Bondowoso, into custody for further legal proceedings. Authorities are currently investigating the perpetrator’s motive and determining if he has been involved in previous incidents.
