Street Lights Near Daan Mogot Mall Finally Repaired, Roads Lit Up Again
JAKARTA - Street lights on Jalan Daan Mogot and Jalan Tampak Siring, near the new Daan Mogot Mall in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, are finally functioning again.
The Head of the Data and Information Centre (Kapusdatin) of the DKI Jakarta Public Works Department, Siti Dinar Wenny, stated that technicians immediately repaired the street lights after receiving reports on Tuesday night (7/4/2026).
According to her, the malfunction of the public street lighting (PJU) over the past few days was due to an electrical disruption in the road facilities.
In response to the reports, the PJU Task Force of the West Jakarta Public Works Sub-District Office was deployed along with PLN technical teams to repair the electrical panel.
“As of last night around 9:30 PM WIB, the PJU lights on Jalan Daan Mogot, near Daan Mogot Mall in Kalideres, West Jakarta, have been back on normally,” Wenny said.
However, when asked about the condition of the damaged roads along Jalan Tampak Siring, Wenny has not yet provided further response.
The street lights near Daan Mogot Mall had been non-functional for several days.
Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site, the main road along Jalan Tampak Siring, which serves as access from Jalan Daan Mogot to the mall area and the Daan Mogot Baru Complex, appeared pitch black.
Almost all PJU lights installed along the road were in a dead state. When driving at night, lighting came only from passing vehicle headlights.
Dozens of damaged road spots were scattered along the way, both towards the mall and out to Jalan Daan Mogot.
Ujud (36), one of the parking attendants in the area, claimed to have witnessed the darkness causing a motorcyclist to fall due to a pothole in the damaged road.
“The condition was dark, already midnight around 11:00 PM WIB, he was probably speeding thinking it was quiet. After passing the speed bump, he accelerated again, but there was a pothole ahead, and he hit it,” said Ujud.
Fortunately, the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and did not suffer serious injuries.
