The Jagakarsa Subdistrict Public Works Unit (Satpel Bina Marga) has removed street light poles (PJU) at the sinkhole-affected Lenteng Agung area in South Jakarta to prevent collapse due to eroded foundations. Detikcom observed the operation beginning at 2:15 PM WIB, with yellow-clad Bina Marga staff on site. Officers first removed street light cables, then used a manlift to detach lamps from the poles. Long ropes were secured between the manlift and pole to slowly extract them with coordinated efforts. The road was briefly closed during the operation but reopened immediately to avoid traffic congestion. Staff member Febrian Ashar stated the sinkhole situation was concerning, with strong underground water currents eroding the soil around pole foundations. “The latest update shows the water flow has intensified following repairs by the Water Resources Agency (SDA). I’ve been informed that the poles’ foundations are now being eroded,” he said on Saturday, 30 May 2026. Ashar added that Bina Marga was securing the poles to prevent danger to road users and residents. “We are taking immediate action to prevent any unforeseen incidents,” he said. Regarding private provider poles at the site, Ashar confirmed coordination with the district office to inform respective providers, with further updates pending.
