Streamline bureaucracy
Streamline bureaucracy
The World Bank has predicted that Indonesia's economic growth during the sixth five-year development plan will reach at least eight percent annually if bureaucratic constraints on the economy are eliminated.
This sounds promising indeed. Because such high growth means an increase in economic activities, higher incomes for the people, and wider employment opportunities.
The question is do we have the power to chop off the government bureaucracy which hinders the growth, development and progress of the country's economy? We know that the government is committed to introducing deregulation, but the implementation of the deregulations are not always so easy and simple. Challenges from certain groups who do not want the measures taken have been noticeable. Deregulation can also mean abolishing certain people's authority and illegal incomes.
