Stray Monkey Attacks Child in Cilincing, One Person Injured

A stray monkey attacked children in the Marunda area of Cilincing district, North Jakarta. One child was taken to hospital as a result of the incident.

Yes, the child victim is currently being treated at a hospital, the only child victim, said Cilincing Police Sector Chief AKP Bobi Subarsi on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Separately, Gatot Sulaiman, head of the Fire and Rescue Service Sub-Department (Sudin Gulkarmat) North Jakarta, said they had received a report of the incident. He said they are coordinating with the local RT, because the stray monkey that attacked the child has fled.

“Still coordinating with RT, because the monkey has disappeared or run,” he said.

Meanwhile, authorities remain on standby to evacuate the stray monkey. If another report is received, officers will head to the location.
