Strait of Hormuz Opened for 2 Weeks, Can 2 Pertamina Tankers Pass Through Yet?
Two tankers owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely VLCC Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, have yet to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, even though Iran has opened access following the agreement on a ceasefire with the US. However, negotiations to release the two ships are still ongoing. “Both ships owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely VLCC Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, which are currently in the Arabian Gulf, are still being facilitated to cross the Strait of Hormuz,” said Acting Corporate Secretary of PIS, Vega Pita, quoted from detikFinance, Wednesday (8/4/2026). Vega stated that PIS continues to communicate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find a solution to this issue. “PIS continues to conduct intensive coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), which is actively engaging in diplomatic communication with relevant authorities. To date, these diplomatic efforts are still underway,” explained Vega. PIS is also continuously monitoring developments 24/7 and discussing technical preparations so that both tankers can cross the Strait of Hormuz safely. “The company’s priority remains on the safety of all crew members, as well as the security of the ships and their cargo,” said Vega. “We ask for prayers and support from all Indonesian people so that this process can be resolved well,” she concluded.
