Story of RW in Bekasi Managing Rp 100 Million Grant, from Tents to CCTV
The management of a Rp 100 million grant at the rukun warga (RW) level in Bekasi City is starting to demonstrate real impacts. In RW 02 of Jakasetia Ward, South Bekasi Subdistrict, the budget is being utilised to complete various environmental facilities, ranging from tents to surveillance cameras (CCTV). RW 02 Chairman of Jakasetia, Edih, stated that the assistance is very helpful in meeting the basic needs of residents, which were previously limited. According to Edih, the use of the grant funds is not divided equally among all rukun tetangga (RT), but rather adjusted to the level of need in each area. RW 02 has six RTs with varying facility conditions. “Not everything is divided equally. We look at which RT is more of a priority. For example, RT 05 previously did not have facilities like tents, benches, or a sound system, so we helped them first,” he said. In its implementation, the fund management is conducted openly, involving RT officials, residents, and youth organisations. This transparency is considered important to prevent potential misuse of the budget while maintaining public trust. “In this case, we gathered the residents and RTs. We explained what the Rp 100 million assistance is for. So everyone knows and there are no issues going forward,” said Edih. “If the data is accurate and the items are available, reporting is not difficult. We purchase, report, so everything is complete,” he added. “We have fulfilled all the requirements. If the government asks, we will carry it out so that this programme runs smoothly,” he said.
