Storm damages 56 houses

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: A violent storm destroyed 11 houses
and damaged 45 others yesterday in a village in Ogan Komering
Ilir, 80 kilometers from here.

Eleven people were injured, four of them seriously, said Oemar
Boerniat, the chief spokesman of South Sumatra provincial
administration.

The storm, which hit Desa II Muara Batun village at 2:45 a.m.,
lasted for about five minutes, Antara reported.

South Sumatra Governor Ramli Hasan Basri said yesterday that
help, including relief aid, was already on its way to the area.
