Stop Vandalism! Green Line KRL Windows Shattered by Thrown Objects, Injuring Passenger
The electric commuter train (KRL) operating on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route has been targeted by vandalism. As a result, the windows of the Green Line KRL were shattered.
“The throwing incident on Commuter Line Rangkasbitung No 1790, operating the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung route, caused broken and cracked window glass on the fourth carriage from the front,” said Karina Amanda, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI), on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
The train was damaged by unidentified individuals on Monday (8/6) night. The incident began at approximately 21:10 WIB while the train was passing between Rawa Buntu and Serpong stations.
A passenger was injured by flying glass shards. The KCI team provided immediate first aid to the victim.
“The glass shards hit a passenger located near the window. The passenger was subsequently taken to the Parung Panjang Station Health Post for medical examination and treatment,” she explained.
A passenger managed to record the moment the KRL window shattered. Footage showed glass fragments scattered across passenger seats, with the broken window temporarily secured using curtains and adhesive tape.
Following the report, security officers from Serpong Station immediately proceeded to the site to sweep the area for information regarding the perpetrators and to secure the railway tracks. However, officers found no suspects or suspicious individuals in the vicinity.
“To ensure passenger safety, train security officers (PAM Walka) are guarding the area around the broken window. The damaged glass will subsequently be replaced at Parung Panjang Station by KRL rolling stock maintenance officers,” she added.
Karina emphasised that Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways strictly prohibits acts of vandalism that cause damage to railway infrastructure and facilities. Perpetrators could face a prison sentence of up to 15 years under Chapter VII of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding crimes that endanger public safety for persons or property.
“KAI Commuter also hopes for the active role of local governments, community leaders, and parents to continuously educate citizens and children to collectively maintain railway travel safety by avoiding acts of vandalism such as this throwing incident,” she stated.
