Stop U.S.-Iraq war
Stop U.S.-Iraq war
From Media Indonesia
The U.S. has invaded Iraq, which has created very unfavorable
circumstances for Indonesia to escape its economic crisis. The
disrupted flows of people and goods will affect tourism and the
real sector, while the country badly needs the development of
these areas for job creation. At present, over 40 million
Indonesians are in need of proper employment.
It is impossible to create job opportunities without business
operations, whereas businesses themselves cannot survive without
investments. Meanwhile, investment and growth will only take
place in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, naturally
without war.
Nearly all nations in the world oppose and condemn war. We are
against war, not only because it brings harm instead of benefit,
but also because those affected will have no jobs and even no
future.
We therefore appeal that the war now taking place in Iraq be
ended immediately as the price we have to pay is too high. We
also wish to point out that we may keep voicing opposition to
this unnecessary war in an appropriate manner.
