Stop selling poverty to donors, NGOs told

JAMBI, Riau: The Anak Dalam Tribe Care Group (Kopsad) urged
non-governmental organizations (NGOs) here on Monday to stop
selling the poverty and illiteracy of Anak Dalam to foreign donor
agencies.

Kopsad chairman Budhi Vrihaspathi Jauhari said that NGOs that
have received funds from donor agencies have neglected Anak Dalam
Tribe --also known as Kubu tribe.

"The forest which is the tribe's sanctuary has been converted
into oil palm plantations. Kubu people now only have soil as
their bed and sky as their roof," he said.

Budhi urged the provincial officials and political elite to
oblige plantation owners to introduce modern life to Kubu people.
