Many kinds of lotteries and "disguised" gambling are conducted
shamelessly today via short message service (SMS), even during
the holy month of Ramadhan.

Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country, and Islam
strictly forbids lotteries and gambling. It is time that the
Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and other organizations took steps
to scrap lotteries and gambling via SMS.

Malaysia, for one, banned these activities a long time ago.
