'Stop Daddy' Cry Heard Before Australian National Killed Two Children Then Hanged Himself

A tragic incident occurred in Legian, Kuta, Badung, Bali, on Sunday (13/9/2026). Two children, initialled ADS (6) and LKS (4), were found dead lying inside the bungalow where they had been staying with their father, SDJ (56). The father of the two unfortunate children was also found dead, hanging. They were Australian nationals.

Police strongly suspect that SDJ killed his two children before hanging himself. It has emerged that, prior to the tragedy, SDJ’s wife had telephoned her husband. The Head of Public Relations at Bali Regional Police, Commissioner Ariasandy, revealed that, based on the wife’s testimony, a child’s crying could be heard when she telephoned her husband at around 08.30 Central Indonesia Time on Sunday.

Not long after that conversation, her husband could no longer be reached. Several hours later, SDJ and his two children were found dead inside the bungalow.

It is understood that SDJ’s wife had been in Jakarta since four days earlier, whilst SDJ was living in the bungalow with the two children.

“Earlier, when she telephoned her husband, she could hear her child crying, and afterwards he could not be contacted again,” said Ariasandy on Monday (14/9/2026).

‘Stop Daddy’ Cry

Not only crying, SDJ’s wife also heard the voice of her daughter, LKS. The little girl was heard asking her father to stop.

“During that communication, the voice of the victim’s daughter could be heard saying ‘stop daddy’,” added Ariasandy.

After that communication, SDJ could no longer be reached. This prompted his wife to contact the bungalow’s owner to ask for help checking on her family’s condition.

However, the bungalow’s owner was not at the location at the time. He then asked Nur Khamid (51) to check the bungalow.

Nur checked from outside. At that point, he found no signs of activity inside the bungalow. His findings were then reported to the bungalow’s owner.

The owner subsequently came to the location. When carrying out the check, he was accompanied by the neighbourhood head and local residents.

Two Children Suspected Strangled

At 10.14 Central Indonesia Time, SDJ was found dead, hanging from a window grille. Meanwhile, his two children were found dead lying on the floor.

Based on an external examination of the bodies, the two child victims are provisionally suspected to have been smothered and strangled by SDJ. After that, SDJ is suspected to have ended his own life by hanging.

“It is suspected that the two victims, a boy and a girl, died by being smothered and strangled, after which their father ended his life by hanging himself,” said Ariasandy.

Nevertheless, the police are still carrying out an autopsy process to confirm the cause of the three deaths. “To determine the exact cause of the victims’ deaths, an autopsy of the bodies is necessary,” he concluded.

Ariasandy said the suspicion was based on an external examination of the bodies when they were found. The police are still conducting further investigation to confirm the cause of the three victims’ deaths.

The three bodies were then taken to RSUP Prof. IGNG Ngoerah to undergo an autopsy. A forensic examination is needed to confirm the cause of the three deaths.

According to detikBali’s observations at the crime scene on Monday afternoon, the bungalow complex remained open and occupied by other tenants. Only the bungalow where the bodies were found had been cordoned off with police tape.

From the front, only a pair of sandals and cleaning equipment could be seen at the bungalow concerned. As of Monday afternoon, no police activity was visible at the scene.

Meanwhile, other occupants of the bungalow complex declined to give statements to the media regarding the incident.

Ariasandy said the police would still carry out autopsies on the three bodies to confirm the causes of death. The results of the forensic examination will form part of the ongoing investigation into the case.

“Further examination, including forensic examination or autopsy, is necessary to confirm the causes of death,” he concluded.
