Stop abuse of women!
Stop abuse of women!
From Warta Kota
A recent report said 35 Indonesian women migrant workers had
returned home before their contracts expired due to violent
treatment by their employers in Kuwait.
If the Indonesian government really was sincere about
protecting its citizens, the Ministry of Manpower should take
action. In my view, this abuse of women constitutes an affront to
the nation rather than mere violence against individual female
workers.
In humanitarian terms, we should feel sorry for village women
who have to go abroad just to earn a living, with the cruel
treatment meted out to them showing a total disregard for the
dignity of Indonesians.
So, will the Indonesian government continue to remain silent
over the fact that many of its citizens have fallen victim to
violence overseas?
