Stolen items
I would like to bring to everyone's attention (especially Garuda's) what happened to a young lady flying from Sydney to Denpasar with a stopover in Denpasar. She flew, on Aug. 19, 1995, GA 899 (Sydney-Denpasar) and GA 637 (Denpasar-Yogyakarta). She carried one bag herself and checked her other baggage. Because of delays in Denpasar, she forgot to carry her makeup case and it was checked in with her other baggage.
When her baggage arrived she found the combination of her makeup case had been changed and a rose, yellow and gold necklace, and a pair of gold earrings had been stolen. They cost about A$2,600. It is very unfortunate that such a thing should happen to a visitor.
The items were lost between Denpasar and Yogyakarta, because when she changed planes in Denpasar she forgot to bring her makeup case.
I tried to find the items at the lost and found department and sent a letter to Garuda outlining the matter, but have had no solution. It's a pity that Garuda, one of the biggest companies in Indonesia, can let such an incident happened.
I hope Garuda will solve the matter soon.
