Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has asked the public to use fuel oil (BBM) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) wisely. This is due to the ongoing escalating conflict in the Middle East.

The conflict has led several ASEAN countries to restrict energy use in their respective nations. However, unlike Indonesia, Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia stated that both BBM and LPG stocks are still in a safe condition.

“So, our BBM stocks, God willing, are in a safe condition. Meeting the minimum standards,” explained Bahlil on Friday (27/3/2026).

Meanwhile, regarding LPG, Bahlil asked everyone to use it prudently together. The reason is that, as is known, 70% of Indonesia’s LPG comes from imports.

“LPG requires a collective effort, and we must… I suggest to the public that we use LPG wisely.

“We know that 70% of our LPG is imported. But up to today, the situation is clear. The ships we purchased from several countries are still on track. So, God willing, it’s safe,” stated Bahlil.

In addition, Bahlil explained that the current global situation requires the public to continue striving. Even though the Indonesian government has the funds for imports, the condition involves competing with other countries to obtain those commodities.

“Once again, I say this is an effort to be more prudent in using it. Even if we have the money, but if the goods have to be competed for with other countries,

“Well, we really have to guard it. That’s what I mean. Don’t take it everywhere,” emphasised Bahlil.
