The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has affirmed that it will finalise all proposals to be submitted to Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) this week. It is known that the Indonesian capital market will face announcements from MSCI and the Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) in early April, which could significantly affect market movements. For this reason, BEI is preparing measures to mitigate potential market volatility. “This week, we will finalise all the proposals we are submitting to MSCI,” explained Jeffrey to CNBC Indonesia on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Previously, OJK Commissioner Member Hasan Fawzi stated that they had held several virtual meetings with MSCI. “The discussion meetings (with MSCI) were very good; we aim to conduct discussions at the technical level, with MSCI providing guidance on the methodology and calculations to be carried out,” said Hasan. Hasan emphasised that the issues of concern to MSCI align with OJK’s eight action programmes, including transparency, beneficial owner disclosure, liquidity, and free float. In those meetings, OJK, BEI, and KSEI have submitted solution proposals on two main MSCI issues, detailed as follows: - Reduction of the share ownership disclosure threshold from above 5% to above 1% - Presentation of more granular investor data, from 9 types and 27 sub-types, including beneficial owner disclosure - Plan to gradually increase the minimum free float from 7.5% to 15%
