Still Under Improvement, Rasuna Said CFD Effective from 1 June
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the Motor Vehicle-Free Day (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD) activity on Jalan Rasuna Said in South Jakarta will take effect starting from 1 June 2026.
Pramono mentioned that the opening of CFD in that area is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to present a new face to the capital, particularly after the dismantling of the derelict monorail pillars along Jalan Rasuna Said.
“Why is it being held on Jalan Rasuna Said? We want to show the public that Jakarta is undergoing improvements,” said Pramono in Jakarta on Sunday (10/5), as reported by Antara.
“Effectively, we will implement it from 1 June. Why is this being held? Because there is extraordinary public demand, and earlier I was also surprised and shocked,” he added.
On the first day of the CFD opening in Rasuna Said, thousands of residents were seen crowding the area since the morning. They engaged in various activities, from walking, cycling, jogging, to exercising with family.
One resident, Laila, said she deliberately came to Rasuna Said with friends and family out of curiosity about the atmosphere of CFD at the new location. Usually, she participates in CFD around Bundaran HI.
“Usually it’s around HI, but after knowing that CFD is also available in Rasuna Said, we tried it out,” she said.
Another resident, Bayu, also admitted to being interested in coming to exercise while directly seeing the latest condition of Rasuna Said after the area was tidied up and the monorail pillars were dismantled.
Pramono previously stated that adding CFD locations, including Rasuna Said, will expand sports tourism in Jakarta. He mentioned that activities like CFD can become an attraction for the capital, especially for people who enjoy exercising on weekends.
“I am convinced that opening CFD in Rasuna Said will lead to even more sports tourism in Jakarta, including the organisation of various international events, whether football, marathons, or other activities,” said Pramono.
