Still Just a Concept: Hajj Costs Under "War Ticket" Scheme More Expensive Than Queue Route

Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzhar Simanjuntak revealed that the cost of performing Hajj under the “war ticket” scheme would be higher than the queue route. If pilgrims opt for this scheme, they are required to pay the full amount immediately. “For example, if set at Rp 200 million per person, that becomes the full amount paid by pilgrims choosing this scheme (war ticket),” Dahnil stated, as quoted from Kompas.com on Friday (10/4/2026). Meanwhile, the war ticket scheme would not receive benefit values like the regular Hajj. “Everything is paid in full by the pilgrims, without benefit values like in the regular scheme,” he said. Thus, it would not cut into the regular Hajj quota provided by the Saudi Arabian government. Dahnil explained that the war ticket scheme is still just a concept and will not be applied to the 2026 Hajj departures. “(War Ticket) is not this year’s policy, so don’t get it wrong. It’s not this year’s policy; it’s our discussion point,” he clarified. “There are none, so this year Saudi Arabia is not issuing furoda Hajj visas. So, the clear legal visa is called the Hajj visa,” Dahnil said. Dahnil advised all interested members of the public planning to perform Hajj through the furoda route not to be deceived by promises of departing in 2026. “Hajj definitely involves queuing in our current context; Hajj definitely queues. The longest now is 26 years; previously there were those with 49 or 48, now it’s 26 years. For special Hajj, the longest is around 6 years,” he explained.
