Still Grieving, Family of Late Sutrimo Absent from Exhumation Process

The family of the late Sutrimo (42) did not attend the exhumation of the man who previously worked as a guard at the residence of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Fabrie Adriansyah on Wednesday (12/8/2026). They said they are still devastated by Sutrimo’s death. The family’s legal counsel, Aan Rohaeni, revealed that the exhumation process by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police team was carried out at around 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. Sutrimo was buried in Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The exhumation was conducted after the Jakarta Metropolitan Police elevated the status of Sutrimo’s death case to an investigation. A number of doctors and forensic experts were involved in the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body. ‘As it happens, no family members were present. They all authorised me. So I was the one who attended,’ Aan Rohaeni said when interviewed after the exhumation. He did not deny that the family is still grieving over the death of the deceased. This is why they could not bear to witness the exhumation process. ‘Mrs Anis (Sutrimo’s younger sister), for example, last night spoke with the forensic doctors because the deceased’s medical history was being examined, and she went home feeling weak. So it was not possible; if they went to the grave, they would also inconvenience others. They simply were not up to it, the family could not bear to watch the exhumation process,’ Aan said. He said the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body lasted until around 1 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. According to Aan, the forensic team took several samples. ‘Earlier, a prayer event was also held by local residents at the late Mr Sutrimo’s house,’ he said. Aan revealed that the results of the exhumation will be released by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. ‘We entrust the procedure to the authorities. We believe that the law will be upheld in the matter of the late Mr Sutrimo,’ he said. Meanwhile, Banyumas Police Chief Senior Commissioner Petrus P. Silalahi said that his officers only provided security assistance during Sutrimo’s exhumation. ‘We only provided security. The execution of the exhumation is under the purview of the General Criminal Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police,’ he said. He added that 183 personnel were deployed to secure the exhumation process of Sutrimo’s body. According to Petrus, his personnel had been guarding Sutrimo’s grave since Saturday (8/8/2026). This was done after Sutrimo’s family reported the suspicious circumstances of his death to the Banyumas Police. ‘The security (of Sutrimo’s grave) was carried out because it is evidence,’ Petrus said. Sutrimo’s family had indeed reported the suspicious nature of his death to the Banyumas Police on Saturday last week. The Banyumas Police had examined several members of Sutrimo’s family. However, the case was subsequently transferred to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
