STIK Students Build Borewell for Residents in North Aceh
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Students from the Police Science College (STIK) under the Indonesian National Police’s Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat) have built a borewell for disaster-affected residents in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province.
North Aceh Police Chief AKBP Trie Aprianto said in North Aceh on Sunday that the borewell construction represents the students’ community service and an effort to help meet clean water needs in the aftermath of disasters.
“The construction of this borewell is a tangible form of the police’s presence among the community. We appreciate the dedication of STIK Class 83 students who have provided a concrete solution to residents’ basic needs after the disaster,” he said.
He said the borewell construction was carried out after STIK students conducted surveys and collected data on residents struggling to access clean water.
Based on field observations and interviews with the community, he said, the availability of clean water sources is a priority need in supporting the recovery of areas affected by hydrometeorological disasters.
“The borewell construction involved 22 STIK Class 83 students. The process was carried out through mutual cooperation with local residents, from drilling and pipe installation to water quality testing to ensure it could be immediately used by residents,” Trie Aprianto said.
He expressed appreciation for the students’ concern and initiative in delivering real solutions for the community. The borewell is expected to provide clean water access for disaster-affected residents, improve community health and environmental sanitation, strengthen the partnership between the police and the public, and foster social awareness among students regarding regional dynamics.
“We also call on residents to maintain this clean water facility so that it can be utilized for the long term and used for the common good,” Trie Aprianto said.
