Stern Warning: Prabowo Says Many 'Superpower' Leaders Fail to Maintain Peace
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto addressed the state-level commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an for the year 1447 H/2026 at the State Palace on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. During his remarks, Prabowo discussed the geopolitical conditions affecting various nations and efforts to maintain peace.
He stated that the world faces unprecedented uncertainty and danger. According to him, world leaders with substantial power have failed to adequately preserve peace.
Consequently, he stressed, the Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration should serve as an opportunity to understand the teachings of the Qur’an, particularly regarding the maintenance of peace.
“The messages conveyed by the speakers are, I believe, very meaningful for all of us in today’s world, which is full of uncertainty and danger, where many leaders in the world who possess great power are not successfully maintaining peace,” he said.
The chairman of Gerindra Party also stated that what the world currently needs is to forge unity and harmony among nations, particularly amidst conditions fraught with uncertainty and peril.
“As president, I am always mindful of the duties entrusted to me. My duty as president of the Republic of Indonesia is to protect all of Indonesian territory and all Indonesian people. Regardless of their race and religion, they must be protected, safeguarded, cared for, and nurtured,” he said.
To that end, during his presidency, he is committed to maintaining peace and nurturing friendships with all nations. Additionally, he stated his intention to work towards eliminating poverty from society.
“For this reason, which I particularly recognise, is the need to work extremely hard to maintain peace. It is clear that Indonesia under my administration is determined to nurture friendship and good relations with all nations and all powers,” he said.
“Once again, I emphasise that we must strive hard to eliminate poverty and hunger from our people,” he added.
