Stern Warning from Prabowo to Officials and Security Forces: Clean Up Your Ranks!

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has warned the ranks of state officials, including the TNI and Polri, to promptly improve their respective institutions in order to strengthen law enforcement and maintain public trust. This was conveyed by Prabowo during a discussion with journalists and experts, quoted from a video shared by the Presidential Secretariat, on Sunday (22/3/2026). Prabowo urged ministers and agency heads to cleanse their institutions of deviant practices. He admitted to having directly conveyed these instructions to his subordinates. According to Prabowo, several ministers have immediately followed up on these instructions. He cited Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, who is regarded as firm in addressing violating officials. “If you look at my current Public Works Minister, who is it, Dody, he’s a good person, but if anyone plays around, he sacked two director-generals,” Prabowo stated. Prabowo emphasised that reform is not targeting just one institution, but all state apparatus with authority to enforce the law. Improvements in the law enforcement sector, including Polri and TNI, are deemed crucial for strengthening the nation’s foundation and enhancing public trust. “What I want to do is transform the nation; I want to improve the nation’s condition in all aspects, including the law enforcement apparatus,” he said.
