Stepmother of Sukabumi Boy Who Died in 2024 Had Previously Reported for Abuse, But Case Resolved Amicably
Police have revealed that TR, the stepmother of 13-year-old NS who died in Sukabumi, West Java, was previously reported to the police. TR was reported for allegedly abusing NS in 2024.
As reported by detikJabar on Wednesday (25/2/2026), Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Samian stated that a report regarding the abuse of NS was filed with investigators in 2024. However, the report was resolved amicably.
“Regarding the abuse suffered by the victim, NS, this occurred several years ago. On November 4, 2024, a report was filed, but we processed the report and reached a settlement. We will, of course, investigate this further and take appropriate action,” said Samian.
Based on investigations following the victim’s death, Samian said that NS had been subjected to violence since 2023. This was revealed through the victim’s testimony before his death.
“Previously, based on NS’s testimony in the 2024 report, he also experienced similar violence in 2023. The violence he experienced was typical physical abuse, such as being pinched, slapped, and scratched, during the time he lived with TR,” explained Samian.
Samian said that NS’s biological father was aware of his son’s condition under the care of his stepmother. He stated that NS’s biological father was the one who filed the report in 2024.
“Of course, the biological father knew, because he was the one who filed the report on November 4, 2024,” he said.
Currently, NS has died. Police have also named TR as a suspect, charging her under Article 80 in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection.
