Stepmother Accused of Abusing Child NS Turns Out to Be a Civil Servant at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Sukabumi
The case of alleged child abuse leading to the death of a 13-year-old, known as NS, has revealed new facts. The victim’s stepmother, identified as TR, who is now a suspect, turns out to be a civil servant at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in Sukabumi Regency.
TR is known to hold the position of Islamic Religious Extension Officer in Kalibunder sub-district and is a contract-based government employee.
The Personnel Analyst of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Sukabumi Regency, Irmansyah Marpaung, confirmed this status. He explained that, as of today, they have not yet received the official letter of indictment from the police.
“Based on her employment status as of today, since we have not yet received the official letter of indictment, she will continue to receive her normal salary,” said Irmansyah, as reported by detikJabar on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
According to him, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has assigned the Head of the Kalibunder sub-district Religious Affairs Office, as TR’s superior, along with the Chairman of the Kalibunder sub-district IPARI (Islamic Religious Extension Officers Association), to visit the Sukabumi Police and request a written copy of the letter of indictment.
“Once we receive the written report of the indictment, the ASN (civil servant) status of the individual will be automatically suspended temporarily,” he said.
This policy is in accordance with the regulations of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), which stipulates that civil servants who are suspects must be temporarily suspended until a final court decision is issued. During this period of suspension, TR will continue to receive 50 percent of her income as a civil servant.
“The decision to suspend her does not mean she will not be paid. Her income will still be paid at 50 percent until the court’s decision is issued,” he explained.
