Stepfather on the Run Arrested by Bareskrim for Child Sexual Abuse
The Mobile Investigation Unit (Satresmob) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has arrested Raden Aji Saka (RAS), a fugitive in a suspected case of sexual abuse against his 11-year-old stepdaughter. The suspect was apprehended at a hotel in the Cipaku area of South Bogor, West Java.
Head of Satresmob Bareskrim, Senior Commissioner Teuku Arsya Khadafi, stated the arrest was made in the early hours of Thursday (18/6). RAS was an operational target listed on the Wanted Persons List (DPO) by the Directorate of Crimes for the Protection of Women and Children (Dittipid PPA) of Bareskrim.
“The Satresmob Bareskrim team provided investigative backup for the suspect being sought by Dittipid PPA and PPO investigators and arrested the suspect at a hotel in the Cipaku area, South Bogor,” Arsya said in a statement on Monday (22/6/2026).
The arrest, led by Unit Head I of Satresmob Bareskrim, AKBP Harry Azhar, began with information on the suspect’s whereabouts on Wednesday (17/6) evening. Investigation revealed RAS was staying with his new family at a hotel in Bogor.
Officers conducted surveillance because upon arrival at the location, the suspect was outside the hotel. The team waited in the hotel area until the suspect returned in the early hours.
“On Thursday at around 3:10 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, the target returned to the hotel. The team then coordinated with Dittipid PPA and PPO investigators, accompanied by hotel staff and local community officials, to take action. The suspect was secured without resistance,” Arsya explained.
The case originated from a report of alleged sexual abuse against the victim, identified by the initials MR (11), who is the adopted child of the suspect’s wife (stepchild). The depraved acts were allegedly committed between July 2024 and July 2025 in the areas of Depok, Bogor, and South Jakarta.
After his actions were reported to the police, RAS fled and abandoned the reporting family. To evade police pursuit, the suspect frequently moved residences and was even known to have started a new family.
“After the incident, the suspect left the complainant and subsequently remarried, frequently moving places to avoid police pursuit,” Arsya disclosed.
Police also seized a number of other pieces of evidence from the perpetrator, including 175 sheets of counterfeit Rp100,000 banknotes. Police also confiscated a car, several mobile phones, identity documents, and bank cards.
RAS has now been taken to Bareskrim for further examination. Police are investigating the possibility of other victims of the perpetrator’s actions.
“The suspect and evidence have been handed over to Dittipid PPA and PPO Bareskrim investigators for further processing,” Arsya stated.
Arsya also urged members of the public who believe they may have been victims of the suspect RAS to report to the police immediately.
“We are still investigating other potential victims, and if any members of the public feel they have been other victims of the suspect, they can report to the Directorate of PPA/PPO Bareskrim,” he concluded.
