A stepfather with the initials MMQ (32) allegedly sexually abused his 13-year-old stepdaughter, threatening to beat her if she refused his demands. The abuse is reported to have occurred over a period of six years.

Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Banten Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Dian Setyawan, stated that the acts took place at the victim’s home in Panancangan Urban Village, Cipocok Jaya District, Serang City. The case was uncovered after the victim could no longer endure the abuse and confided in her mother.

‘The abuse lasted for approximately six years, from when the victim was in the third grade of primary school in 2019 until she reached the second year of junior high school in 2026,’ said Dian on Friday (4/7/2026).

The suspect allegedly enticed the victim with the promise of a mobile phone if she complied, but threatened to beat her if she refused. The suspect also forced the victim to watch pornographic films and perform oral sex.

Upon hearing the harrowing confession, the mother was shocked and immediately reported the case to the Banten Regional Police. The report was followed up by the Sub-Directorate for Women and Children of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, led by Police Commissioner Irene Missy.

‘We received the report on Friday, 26 June 2026. The team moved quickly to conduct an investigation and make an arrest,’ she explained.

Following the investigation, officers arrested MMQ, who works as a casual labourer, at his parents’ home in Banjarsari Urban Village, Cipocok Jaya District, on Monday (29/6).

‘The suspect and the evidence have been secured for further processing,’ she confirmed.

For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 of the Child Protection Law, which carries a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 15 years.
