Stellantis to Invest £1.1 Billion for Peugeot Production in Mulhouse
France (ANTARA) - Stellantis will invest more than 1 billion Euro (approximately £840 million) in France to support the production of three future Peugeot models, which will be available in both electric and hybrid versions based on the new STLA One platform.
According to a press release shared by the automotive giant on its official website on Tuesday (2/6), the three new vehicles will be positioned in the C-segment and will be assembled at the Mulhouse industrial facility (Alsace), France, starting from 2029.
This investment will support the development of the new STLA One modular platform in France, as well as the industrial production of these three new models in Mulhouse. These projects are fully aligned with the FaSTLAne 2030 strategic plan, which was introduced on 21 May 2026. One of the main pillars of this strategy is the development of new global platforms, powertrains, and new technologies.
“France serves as a perfect example of the Stellantis global strategy that we presented in the FaSTLAne 2030 plan, where our global scale, deep understanding of local markets, and the strength of our brands combine to meet and even exceed customer expectations,” said Stellantis CEO, Antonio Filosa.
The three upcoming Peugeot C-segment models will be available in 100 per cent electric or hybrid versions. Peugeot is among the four Stellantis global brands with the greatest potential in terms of sales volume and profitability. Peugeot will also be the first brand to launch the STLA One platform, a technology designed for global application.
Furthermore, the investment in the C-segment—a segment that accounts for approximately 30 per cent of total car sales in Europe—is part of Stellantis’s strategy in Europe to strengthen its market coverage in the region.
Additionally, the production of these models in Mulhouse starting in 2029 demonstrates the company’s ambition to combine electrification with high industrial performance in France, which remains a key nation in the Stellantis strategy. This investment is expected to increase the capacity utilisation of the Mulhouse plant—which employs 4,500 workers and is a historic asset for the company—and ensure the future of the facility by providing long-term certainty amidst the massive transformation currently occurring in the automotive industry.
Stellantis welcomed the strong commitment of the French government to decarbonise the mobility sector through support for the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as its determination to continue implementing ambitious and competitive industrial policies in France and Europe, particularly through the ‘Made in Europe’ policy initiative. According to the company, these policies play a crucial role in creating the conditions that support this investment.
