Jakarta – Stellantis, together with PT Indomobil National Distributor, has formally established a strategic partnership with Leapmotor, a Chinese-based electric vehicle company utilising advanced technology, to bring its products to the Indonesian market.

Through this collaboration, PT Indomobil National Distributor plans to launch Leapmotor electric vehicles in Indonesia this year. The brand’s presence is expected to expand the range of electrified vehicle options available to Indonesian consumers.

Leapmotor vehicles are designed to address the mobility needs of modern consumers. In addition to featuring award-winning design, these vehicles offer enhanced comfort levels and advanced technology targeting both modern families and professionals.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to expand our portfolio of brands in Indonesia whilst providing more options for electrified vehicles that have gained global recognition,” said Tan Kim Piauw, Chief Executive Officer of PT Indomobil National Distributor, in an official statement.

According to Tan, the vehicle models to be introduced have been carefully selected to meet the evolving mobility needs of urban populations. The vehicles are also designed to support daily activities with a practical approach.

The collaboration between Stellantis and Leapmotor is part of a broader global partnership to expand the development and distribution of electric vehicles across various international markets. Through this partnership, Leapmotor leverages Stellantis’s global distribution network, infrastructure, and quality standards to expand its presence beyond its domestic market.

Unlike conventional automotive industry approaches, Leapmotor has developed its capabilities from the outset without relying on legacy components commonly used by traditional automotive manufacturers. This innovative approach was pioneered by Zhu Jiangming, Leapmotor’s Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer.

Globally, Leapmotor International was established as a joint venture with a 51/49 ownership composition led by Stellantis. This entity focuses on developing high-technology New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) with cost efficiency for major international markets.

With a strong focus on internal research and engineering development, Leapmotor vehicles are able to offer competitive product value. This is made possible because the company independently manufactures more than 60 per cent of the vehicle components it uses.

Additionally, Leapmotor achieved a significant milestone in September 2025 by producing its one millionth vehicle. This achievement strengthens the company’s position as one of the fastest-growing electric vehicle brands in the global automotive industry.

Through this partnership, PT Indomobil National Distributor reaffirms its commitment to bringing various global automotive brands to Indonesia with an integrated approach, not only in terms of vehicle products but also after-sales service and customer ownership experience.

This approach is also realised through the development of showroom networks featuring the Stellantis Brand House concept, which combines multiple brands in a single location.

“We believe this partnership with Stellantis can strengthen the presence of global automotive brands in Indonesia. Going forward, we will continue to introduce products and technologies relevant to industry development whilst addressing Indonesian consumers’ mobility needs,” Tan concluded.
