STB opens Singapore Education Services Center
STB opens Singapore Education Services Center
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) recently opened its first
Singapore Education Services Center, reaffirming its commitment
to providing a holistic experience for international students in
Singapore.
The center will provide one-stop access to information for
international students studying in Singapore and will cater to
their needs and well-being beyond the classroom.
The Singapore Education Services Center is located in the arts
and learning hub at the YMCA Building at 1 Orchard Road, where
international students will find it most convenient to drop by
the center for education counseling and research, or to mingle
with their peers.
Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education Chan Soo
Sen, who officiated the opening of the center, said: "The center
provides a one-stop shop for international students in Singapore.
It should aim to become a welcoming haven, a home away from home.
This will help Singapore establish itself as an education hub,
where international talents converge to teach, learn, share and
discover."
STB's Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, Lim Neo Chian,
explained that, "The opening of the Singapore Education Services
Center is vital to the Board's plan to enhance international
students' experience in Singapore by making information readily
available and easily accessible."
In addition, the STB-run center will provide opportunities for
direct interface with these students. Its strategic location in
the center of the learning hub will also enable STB to feel the
pulse of the visitors and better service their varying needs. Its
shop-front location will also enable us to build brand visibility
for Singapore Education.
One-Stop Center
The Singapore Education Services Center will provide a central
focal point for international students to enhance their learning
experience outside the classroom by allowing students the
opportunity to meet and network with their peers during their
stay in Singapore.
The center will be the home of the planned International
Students Association, once they are officially registered, where
members can meet and facilitate student programs and activities
for international students to network, interact and mingle.
Through the forged friendships, these students will feel more
at home in Singapore as they plug into a vibrant global student
community, make new friends and discover the richness of the
different cultures that is inherent in the Singapore education
environment.
The center will house a complete range of prospectuses
containing information on educational institutions and their
various course offerings. Education counseling will be made
available to students to advise them on the various education
options, registration procedures and processes.
The center will also be a one-stop resource center for all
Singapore Education-related information for international
students to ensure that they can conveniently obtain all the
necessary post-arrival information to help them assimilate and
integrate quickly into Singapore society.
With the opening of the Singapore Education Service Center,
STB would look into replicating the concept of the Singapore
Education Services Center in key markets in the near future. This
is to enable potential students to have access to accurate and
timely information on Singapore Education to aid them in making
informed decisions about studying in Singapore.
