STB opens office in Medan

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has opened an office in Medan on Indonesia's Sumatra island, the second one in the country within a month, reported Channel News Asia Tuesday.

The opening comes three weeks after the STB set up an office in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

Singapore and Indonesia are already each other's top visitor- generating markets.

Visitors from Sumatra make up about 20 percent of Indonesian arrivals to Singapore, while 25 percent of Singaporean visitors to Indonesia travel to Sumatra.--DPA
