State Secretary Says Ride-Hailing Drivers Will Still Receive Holiday Bonuses Despite UMKM Status

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has confirmed that online transport service platforms will continue to provide a Holiday Bonus (BHR) to their partners, even though their status will change to micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) as stipulated in the presidential regulation.

Prasetyo explained that the government holds veto rights because it is one of the shareholders in one of the platforms. This allows the government to issue policies for providing BHR to drivers.

“It is mandatory. Just like before, it was not in the presidential regulation, but because we have veto rights, the amount even increased, doubled compared to last year,” Prasetyo told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/8/2026).

He also confirmed that the veto rights held by the government through Danantara Indonesia can be used to accommodate policies that are not yet included in the presidential regulation.

On that occasion, Prasetyo explained that the regulation is still being finalised. He also assured that there are no drastic changes to its substance, although several aspects have been adjusted to accommodate changes in the business model of transport services.

“We just want to complete the formula so that when it is implemented, nothing is missed for certain cases,” he said.

Furthermore, according to Prasetyo, the government’s mandate for a 92% revenue share for drivers and 8% for platforms is already being implemented on the ground.
