Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the current national rice reserve has reached 5.3 million tons. Millions of tons of rice are stored in Bulog warehouses.

This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo, while accompanying President Prabowo on a working visit to Tuwiri Wetan Village, Merakurak District, Tuban Regency, East Java, Saturday (16/5).

According to Prasetyo, the agenda of the visit, which also marked the start of the major harvest in Tuban, is part of the government’s effort to maintain national food security and independence. He explained that the government is now not only focused on maintaining rice self-sufficiency but also strengthening the production of corn and other strategic food commodities.

“This is one of our efforts, our hard work to ensure that our food supply is strong and independent after we successfully achieved rice self-sufficiency in 2025 through the hard work of the Minister of Agriculture and all his staff. We are now striving for self-sufficiency in corn and all other food commodities,” said Minister Pras.

The State Secretary also expressed appreciation to all Indonesian farmers for their contribution in maintaining national food security. The success of food self-sufficiency is the result of a joint effort between the government and farmers throughout the region.

“Of course, we express our appreciation and gratitude, not only to the Minister of Agriculture but to all farmers throughout Indonesia because the hard work of our farmers has made it possible to achieve food self-sufficiency,” added Minister Pras.

Prasetyo also mentioned another strategic achievement in the national food sector, namely the increase in government rice reserves, which now reach 5.3 million tons in Bulog warehouses. According to him, this number is a historic achievement that shows the national food supply is safe and under control.

“The government’s rice reserve in Bulog warehouses amounts to 5.3 million tons. Once again, we want to ensure that our food is safe, controlled, prices are affordable, and we can even provide assistance to our brothers and sisters in other countries,” he said.

On the same occasion, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman also explained that the government continues to strengthen support for the agricultural sector, including ensuring the availability of fertilizer for farmers.

According to Amran, the national fertilizer stock is currently more than sufficient, and Indonesia has even started exporting fertilizer to several countries.

“Our fertilizer supply is more than enough; we even exported it to Australia yesterday, followed by the Philippines, Brazil, India, and recently, the Australian Minister of Agriculture thanked us four times. This is the greatness of the President of the Republic of Indonesia; his great idea has been implemented well,” said Minister Amran.

In addition to the success of rice self-sufficiency, Minister Amran said that Indonesia has now also achieved self-sufficiency in corn for animal feed. Amran added that fertilizer prices in the country have also decreased by up to 20 percent, which is expected to further help national farmer productivity.

“We have achieved rice self-sufficiency, then we export fertilizer, and fertilizer prices in the country have fallen by 20 percent. We have also achieved self-sufficiency in corn for animal feed. Next, there are other industries as mentioned earlier by the Minister of State Secretary,” Amran concluded.(YK/E-4)

FAJAR has just risen over the rice fields of Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi.

The national rice stock is guaranteed to be abundant; almost all Bulog warehouses are full, forcing the government to rent additional warehouses.

The Head of Bulog Makassar Branch Office, Faris Sudirman AR, explained that even though the stock is full and strict maintenance is carried out, they are now focusing on accelerating distribution.

The Head of Bulog Meger Warehouse, Syamsul Bahri, said that 15,700 tons of rice were stored in the warehouse. The amount of rice stock fluctuates because there is food aid distribution.

Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman, inspected the Sunter Bulog Warehouse. National rice reserves have reached 5 million tons, strengthening Indonesia’s status as a self-sufficient food producer.
