State Secretary Reaffirms No Cabinet Reshuffle Plans
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has once again stressed that President Prabowo Subianto has no plans to reshuffle the Merah Putih Cabinet. Prasetyo made the statement when asked about replacements for the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, following the previous official Silmy Karim being implicated in an alleged corruption case, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture after Sudaryono was appointed as Head of the National Nutrition Agency. “Not yet, not yet. As of today, there are no plans for a reshuffle,” the Presidential Spokesperson said during a press conference after a meeting at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday. Prasetyo conveyed that if a reshuffle were planned, the President would prioritise filling the currently vacant positions. The Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections post has been empty since Silmy Karim was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission in an alleged extortion case in June 2026. Meanwhile, Sudaryono was appointed to lead the National Nutrition Agency at the end of July 2026, replacing Nanik S. Deyang who resigned. After his inauguration, Sudaryono confirmed he had relinquished the Deputy Minister of Agriculture post to avoid dual positions. To date, no new name has been appointed to fill the role. Prasetyo had previously affirmed that the President had no plans to overhaul the Merah Putih Cabinet, although performance evaluations of ministers are ongoing. At the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7), Prasetyo said the evaluation and monitoring process for cabinet members is conducted routinely to ensure government programmes are implemented on target. “As we have often said, the evaluation or monitoring process does not always lead to a reshuffle,” he stated. According to the State Secretary Minister, the President has his own parameters for evaluating the performance of ministries and officials through regular coordination, monitoring, and feedback. In addition to performance achievements, the public communication aspects of ministers are also part of the evaluation. If there are any inappropriate public statements, they will be noted for improvement.
