State Secretary: Performance Allowance Increase Not Limited to TNI, but Also Includes Teachers and Healthcare Workers in 3T Regions
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the policy to increase performance allowance amounts is not only granted to TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) personnel but also to teachers, lecturers, and healthcare workers serving in the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
Prasetyo explained that the increase in performance allowances (tukin) for employees in several agencies was implemented after considering that there had been no adjustments to these amounts in recent years. “In all ministries and agencies, there are performance allowances, and the amounts vary. For some, due to certain considerations, a policy was made to implement an increase after several years without any rise. Examples include not only the TNI and the Ministry of Defence, but also teachers, lecturers, and healthcare workers in 3T regions,” Prasetyo stated when responding to journalists’ questions during a journey from Batang Regency, Central Java, to Jakarta on Thursday night.
Prasetyo continued that the government is paying attention to the welfare of all state servants, particularly those serving in high-difficulty areas, including the 3T regions. “We are looking into the allowances and welfare for those who dedicate themselves to places classified as quite difficult,” said Prasetyo.
President Prabowo Subianto officially increased the performance allowances for TNI personnel and employees within the TNI environment, as well as employees within the Ministry of Defence, as stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 42 of 2026 and Perpres Number 43 of 2026 this July.
The increase was established by President Prabowo after the performance allowances for these two institutions had not been raised for approximately eight years. “Since 2018, the Ministry of Defence and the TNI have not received any adjustments to their performance allowance index. Meanwhile, the various tasks and responsibilities undertaken continue to increase, both in maintaining national sovereignty and supporting strategic government programmes, ranging from disaster management and food security strengthening to development in remote areas and the security of vulnerable regions,” said the Head of the Defence Information Bureau of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.
