The government has ensured that the change in the leadership ranks of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) will not interfere with the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, emphasised that the officials newly appointed by President Prabowo Subianto are ready to immediately undertake their duties and responsibilities, even though the official inauguration schedule awaits further announcement.

Speaking on Tuesday (2/6/2026) evening at the Presidential Palace Complex, Prasetyo stated that the President has appointed Nanik S. Deyang as the Head of the BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. Additionally, Agustina Arumsari and Major General TNI Trenggono have been appointed as Deputy Heads of the BGN, replacing Lodewijk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya.

According to Prasetyo, these changes are the result of an evaluation conducted by the President regarding the BGN’s performance over the past year and a half. The evaluation was carried out to ensure that the implementation of the government’s priority programme can run more effectively and provide greater benefits to the public.

“With the appointment of the new officials, they are already able to carry out their functions and responsibilities as required,” said Prasetyorkan during a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta.

The government hopes that the new leadership structure will be able to accelerate programme implementation, improve organisational performance, and strengthen the governance of the BGN. This step is considered vital given that the BGN holds a central role in executing the MBG programme, which is one of the priority programmes of President Prabowo’s administration.

Prasetyo emphasised that the evaluation and leadership transition process will not affect the agency’s daily operations. All BGN work units will continue to perform their duties according to their respective functions, including the implementation of the MBG programme, which continues based on established standards.

He added that the leadership reshuffle is expected to serve as a momentum to strengthen the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme. In addition to improving public nutrition, the programme is also viewed as a long-term investment in the development of Indonesia’s human resources and as a driver of economic activity across various regions.
