President Prabowo Subianto has carried out a reshuffle of the leadership ranks of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), as announced on Tuesday night. The President has appointed Nanik S. Deyang to replace Dadan Hindayana as the Head of the BGN. In addition to Nanik, Agustina Arumsari and Major General (Rtd) Trenggono were also announced as Deputy Heads of the BGN, replacing Lodewint Pusung and Sony Sonjaya respectively.

The State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that the replacement was made after President Prabowo conducted an evaluation of the BGN’s performance over the past 1.5 years. While the official inauguration of Nanik S. Deyang as Head of the BGN will be announced shortly, the newly appointed officials are authorised to commence their duties immediately following the announcement of the leadership change on Tuesday.

“We will announce the inauguration later. What is certain is that with the appointment of the new officials, they can already perform their functions and responsibilities as required,” said State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Tuesday night.

Prasetyo noted that with the change in top leadership, the BGN is expected to accelerate the implementation of priority programmes, improve performance, and enhance organisational governance to deliver tangible benefits to the public in terms of improving nutritional intake quality. He also emphasised that the government will ensure that all BGN programmes continue to operate as usual throughout the ongoing evaluation process. He further assured that every work unit within the BGN can carry out their duties according to their respective responsibilities, and operations related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme will proceed according to applicable standards.
