State Secretary Invites Public to Vote on 81st Independence Day Logo: Gotong Royong

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who also chairs the National Committee for the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, is encouraging the public to actively participate in selecting the official logo for the commemoration. Prasetyo stated that public participation in choosing the logo represents a tangible form of community involvement in the independence celebrations. “The selection of the logo for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia provides a space for the public to take part in the independence celebrations. This involvement reflects the spirit of democracy, gotong royong, and a sense of ownership over our national symbols,” Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday (25/6/2026). According to him, through public participation, the community is not merely a spectator of the final result but actively contributes to determining the visual identity that represents the spirit of Indonesia’s independence commemoration. Prasetyo added that every vote and piece of input from the public is an important part of choosing the design deemed most capable of depicting Indonesia’s aspirations, optimism, and spirit of unity. “The commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s anniversary belongs to all Indonesian people. Therefore, we are involving various elements of society, from students, university students, and creative communities to the general public, so that this logo selection process becomes a space for national collaboration that strengthens the sense of nationhood and love for the homeland,” he continued. Furthermore, Prasetyo expressed hope that the chosen logo for the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence would not merely serve as a visual identity but also become a symbol of unity and a reminder that Indonesia’s independence was built, fought for, and is safeguarded by all Indonesian people. “Through this spirit of togetherness, we want to ensure that every independence commemoration is not only about remembering history but also about strengthening our collective resolve to continue the struggle towards an increasingly advanced, just, and prosperous Indonesia,” he concluded. The government has determined five finalist logos for the public to choose from as the official emblem for the 81st anniversary. Based on the curation results, five top logos were selected from 124 participants across Indonesia. The five logos and their philosophical descriptions are as follows: 1. David Wirawan (Surakarta) - ‘8 Hopes 1 Goal’, designed by Studio Visual Nusantara, featuring eight main philosophical elements: Resilience, Ecosystem, Progress, Collaboration, Unity, Patriotism, Advancement, and Vitality. 2. Fajar Novario (Padang) - ‘Collective, Synergy, Growth’, designed by Karsa Visual Merdeka, based on the principle of popular sovereignty and the unity found within Indonesia’s cultural diversity. 3. Kanda Putra (Denpasar) - ‘Connected Humanity’, designed by Kolektif Kreatif Bangsa, inspired by the second principle of Pancasila and the spirit of Asta Cita, abstracting values into six aspects of Indonesian interconnectedness. 4. Rizkiawan (Malang) - ‘Empowered, Equal, Synergised Together’, designed by Citra Desain Indonesia, with the number 81 built from three lines representing empowerment, synergy through weaving, and equality. 5. Tiffany Djohan (Batam) - ‘Democracy & Independence’, designed by Sanggar Seni Garuda, featuring a sustainability bridge, a speech bubble silhouette, padi and kapas, a pillar of independence, and a waving flag silhouette.
