State Secretary: Four Corporations Under Investigation over West Kalimantan Forest Fires
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has revealed that four corporations are currently under investigation in connection with forest and land fires in West Kalimantan. Pras stressed President Prabowo Subianto’s instruction to take firm action if legal violations related to the fires are found.
“Yes, as was reported earlier, there are four corporations currently in the process of investigation. In West Kalimantan,” Pras told journalists at Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on Saturday (22/8/2026).
Regarding firm action against legal violations, Pras said Prabowo emphasised this in two limited meetings held today. Prabowo is pushing for firm action against both individuals and corporations.
“One of the points emphasised by the President and all of us is that if criminal acts are found that violate the law and cause the fires, action must be taken against individuals, corporations, or anyone who gives direction or orders to carry out burning or to clear land by burning,” Pras said.
Pras stressed that if violations are found, the government will not hesitate to revoke company permits.
“Yes, if violations are found, we will not hesitate to take action, up to the possibility of having their permits revoked,” Pras said.
Prabowo had previously called for firm action against parties proven to have caused the forest and land fires, whether individuals or corporations. Prabowo is pushing for firm action in accordance with the prevailing legal mechanisms.
“We must take action. We will take action. If it is truly proven, we will take action. We will act in accordance with the law and regulations,” Prabowo said.
