State Secretary: Experience and Decisiveness Are Nanik's Assets to Lead BGN

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi cited several considerations underpinning the appointment of Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). According to him, Nanik is deemed to have an adequate understanding of the governance and programmes of the BGN because she previously served as Deputy Head of the BGN over the past few months. “She has, for some time now, for several months, carried out the mandate as Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency, so we are confident she has had sufficient time to understand all the processes or activities underway at the National Nutrition Agency,” Prasetyo stated at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday. In addition to the experience factor, the government also assesses that Nanik possesses the decisiveness needed in carrying out supervisory and evaluation functions within the BGN. This is considered important for strengthening the institution’s governance, particularly in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals programme. “She is one of those who is quite, one might say, very strict, very firm regarding discipline in implementing SOPs, discipline in running management at the National Nutrition Agency, and also discipline in maintaining the quality of the food we serve to all beneficiaries,” he explained. In carrying out her duties, Nanik will be assisted by two new deputy heads to accelerate the reform process within the institution. Furthermore, Prasetyo conveyed that the government has scheduled the inauguration of the BGN Head for next week. The postponement of the inauguration is intended to allow the new leadership of the BGN to first focus on undertaking internal improvement measures.
