State Secretary: Dasco Conveys Aspirations, President Immediately Visits Train Accident Victims and Allocates Budget
State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad immediately contacted President Prabowo Subianto after inspecting the site of a train accident in Bekasi on Monday evening. He said Dasco conveyed aspirations, and Prabowo directly approved several matters.
For information, the accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) evening. Dasco arrived at the scene shortly after the accident happened.
Returning to Prasetyo, he said Dasco immediately called Prabowo on the night of the accident. Dasco reportedly conveyed the situation of the victims and aspirations from the Mayor of Bekasi and the Metro Jaya Police Chief regarding the construction of an elevated bridge (flyover) at the railway crossing, guard posts, and the condition of railway facilities such as the lack of crossing gates.
Prasetyo mentioned that Dasco also conveyed long-term solutions by proposing the acceleration of the Bulak Kapal flyover construction in Bekasi, which had previously been hindered by budget issues. Dasco reportedly presented this to the President, and it was immediately approved by Prabowo.
According to Prasetyo, Dasco conveyed to Prabowo the aspirations received by the House leadership. He said Prabowo also responded quickly by visiting the train accident victims at Bekasi City General Hospital and immediately preparing a Rp 4 trillion budget to repair 1,800 railway crossings on Java island.
“Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Dasco, immediately contacted the President on the night of the train accident incident in Bekasi. From that communication, the President directly visited the victims and prepared a budget for railway facility improvements,” said Prasetyo Hadi in a written statement on Thursday (30/4/2026).
Prasetyo stated that Prabowo had given direct instructions for the Bekasi train accident victims to receive maximum care. He said Prabowo also highlighted aspects of technology and the condition of railway facilities and had discussed anticipatory steps to prevent accidents from recurring.
Previously, Dasco mentioned that Prabowo had approved presidential assistance (Banpres) of Rp 200 billion to Rp 220 billion from a total need of Rp 250 billion for the construction of a flyover at the Bekasi railway crossing. The completion target is four to six months.
“I have conveyed this to the President and requested presidential assistance so that the flyover can be realised. And the President, praise be to God, has approved Banpres of Rp 200 billion,” said Dasco on Monday (27/4) evening.
Meanwhile, Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto said he had received instructions from Dasco to prepare a letter to accelerate the Bulak Kapal flyover construction. This was done after the fatal accident at Bekasi Timur Station.
“Mr Dasco, Deputy Speaker of the House, ensured there would be an acceleration process. I am confident that with the funding, it should be completed in six months,” he said.
The government has also ensured that the flyover and guard post construction project at railway crossings will be funded from the state budget (APBN). Prabowo said the prepared budget reaches Rp 4 trillion.
“There are about 1,800 such crossing points, I think since the Dutch era, and I have ordered them all to be repaired immediately,” said Prabowo at Bekasi City General Hospital on Tuesday (28/4).
Prabowo stated that the government is preparing comprehensive improvement steps, including options for additional guarding or other security systems at each vulnerable point. Prabowo said the implementation would be determined according to needs.
“We calculate almost Rp 4 trillion for safety. This is very important and necessary. Now is the time for repairs; it has been decades without implementation, so now it will be carried out,” said Prabowo.
The Bekasi train accident resulted in 16 deaths. In addition, 90 people were injured and received treatment.
