State Secretary Asserts Prabowo-Jokowi Ties Remain Warm, No Special Envoy Needed
State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has stressed that the meeting between the son of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, known as Didit Prabowo, and the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in Solo, Central Java, was purely a social visit. The clarification was made by Prasetyo following public scrutiny of the closed-door meeting held at Jokowi’s residence on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The meeting had previously sparked various speculations as it took place without any explanation regarding the agenda discussed.
According to Prasetyo, there was no specific agenda behind the meeting. Didit was said to have simply taken advantage of his presence in Solo to visit Jokowi. “It was a social visit. Coincidentally, he was already in Solo because of the first of Muharram yesterday,” Prasetyo Hadi said in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday, 19 June 2026.
Prasetyo explained that Didit was indeed in Solo after attending a series of events commemorating the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram, or the night of 1 Suro parade, held in the Mangkunegaran Palace area. Being in the same city, Didit then took the time to visit Jokowi’s residence. The visit, Prasetyo said, was not related to governmental affairs or any specific political agenda.
The State Secretary’s statement also reinforced the brief explanation previously given by Didit to the media after meeting Jokowi. At that time, Didit only mentioned that he stopped by Jokowi’s house after attending the night of 1 Suro event in Solo.
The emergence of various speculations regarding the meeting prompted the government to provide clarification. Prasetyo stressed that there was no specific discussion or particular agenda that was the main purpose of the meeting between Didit and Jokowi. According to him, the good relationship that has existed between President Prabowo and Jokowi means communication between the two runs smoothly. Therefore, Didit’s meeting with Jokowi should not be interpreted as part of conveying a political message or special communication between the two national figures. Prasetyo asserted that the visit was solely a social call that took place naturally.
