State Secretary Appointed to Lead Layoff Mitigation Task Force, Here's Why
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has been appointed to lead a task force for mitigating layoffs, following an agreement among several parties and with the permission of President Prabowo Subianto. Prasetyo is considered capable of bridging various parties regarding labour and employment issues. “Friends from the labour unions and also based on the agreement of several related ministers, and of course with the permission of the President, this process of forming the disaster mitigation task force took about a year,” Prasetyo Hadi said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (26/6/2026). Prasetyo stated that his appointment as head of the layoff mitigation task force was due to his perceived ability to act as a bridge between various parties. This reasoning is inseparable from his experience with the disaster mitigation task force. “Then everyone agreed to request that I become the head of the layoff mitigation task force, because we are considered capable of bridging various parties and related stakeholders,” Prasetyo said. The structure of the layoff mitigation task force has not yet been fully formed, but it will embrace the employment desk previously established within the National Police. The task force will work to monitor labour issues, particularly those concerning layoffs. “However, formally, we ask for time because we will still perfect it, as we also want to invite our colleagues at the employment desk within the police to join, so that we can unify this,” Prabowo said. “We all work together to monitor and exchange information regarding problems in companies that have the potential to cause layoffs,” he added.
