State revenue from oil/gas sector up by 17 percent

Lembang, W. Java (ANTARA News) - State revenue from oil/gas sector in 2006 reached more than US$22.536 billion, an increase of about 17.17 percent compared to last year`s.

The state income in the past three years from the oil/gas sector also rose by 89 percent from US$9.6 billion in 2002 to US$22.54 billion in 2006, Head of the Upstream Oil/Gas Business Division Kardaya Warnika said in a press conference here.

This year`s revenue was gained from the sale of crude oil which still stood at US$14.64 billion from crude oil and US$7.9 billion from the export of natural gas, reaching 24 percent of the total state revenue from the oil/gas sector.

On the occasion, Wardaya also said that 38 new fields with an investment commitment reached US$7.34 billion have been developed in 2006.

Of 38 new oil fields, 22 have been producing oil and gas this year.

With the discovery of new oil fields, the present oil and condensate reserves reached 8.7 billion barrels, Kardaya said. (*)
