State Revenue from ESDM Gets Rp20 Billion Boost from Confiscated Coal Auction

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has recorded another success in law enforcement within the mining sector. Through the Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Ditjen Gakkum) of ESDM, the state has obtained additional Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) of Rp20.98 billion from the auction of State-Controlled Goods (BDN) in the form of coal commodities resulting from law enforcement actions in East Kalimantan. This achievement demonstrates that law enforcement in the ESDM sector not only provides legal certainty against violations but is also capable of optimising state revenue through accountable asset management. The auction was carried out by the Samarinda State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL), where PT Wisesa Janitra Sejahtera was determined as the auction winner on 8 July 2026. Director General of Law Enforcement at ESDM, Rilke Jeffri Huwae, stated that this success is part of Ditjen Gakkum ESDM’s commitment to ensuring that every law enforcement outcome provides added value for the state. “The success of this auction shows that law enforcement in the ESDM sector does not stop at the prosecution process. We ensure that every law enforcement outcome can be managed professionally so that it makes a real contribution to state revenue through PNBP,” Jeffri said in a written statement on Thursday (6/8/2026). The auction object was a package of coal commodities totalling approximately 76,742 metric tonnes (MT) spread across 11 stockpile points in Samarinda City and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. In accordance with the provisions, the auction winner is given a maximum of 60 calendar days, or until 10 September 2026, to complete the dismantling, loading, and transportation of coal from all storage locations. Jeffri emphasised that Ditjen Gakkum ESDM will oversee all post-auction stages until the coal removal process is complete. “The auction process is not the end of the law enforcement series. We will continue to supervise and provide assistance so that the process of removing coal from all stockpile locations proceeds in an orderly, safe, transparent manner, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” he stressed. In the coal evacuation process, Ditjen Gakkum ESDM will also continue to coordinate with the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP) and local law enforcement officials to ensure all stages run smoothly according to the provisions. The auction of the State-Controlled Goods was conducted based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 162.K/HK.02/MEM.H/2026. The Ministry of ESDM considers this success as affirming the government’s commitment to realising law enforcement that not only provides a deterrent effect against violations in the mining sector but also optimises state asset management, increases state revenue, and strengthens transparent and accountable natural resource governance for the greatest prosperity of the people.
