A state primary school building (SDN) in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, caught fire on Thursday. All students at the school have been evacuated.

“Alhamdulillah, the students have been evacuated,” said Sjukri Bahanan, Head of the Operations Section for the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), on Thursday (6/8/2026).

Firefighters remain at the school to fully extinguish the blaze. The latest reports indicate the fire has gradually subsided. “The fire status is now in the cooling-down process,” he stated.

The cooling-down process refers to the stage where the main flames from the incident are no longer present. During this process, firefighters continue to spray water to ensure the fire is completely out and to prevent any re-ignition. Personnel are also dismantling materials at the fire site to ensure no embers remain. The cooling-down process was underway as of 11:53 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The school building that caught fire is located on Jalan Srengseng Sawah, RT 04 RW 07, Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta. The fire was reported to authorities at 11:36 AM WIB. Firefighters commenced operations at 11:44 AM WIB. A total of 17 fire engines and 68 personnel were deployed to the scene.
