State Palace Urges Hotman Paris Not to Drag Prabowo into Former Jampidsus Case

The State Palace, through Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, has responded to statements made by lawyer Hotman Paris linking the legal process of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah to the reputation of President Prabowo Subianto. Prasetyo stressed that Hotman Paris should not drag the President’s name into the matter and expressed hope that the case would be handled entirely by law enforcement officials. ‘We return this to the legal process. Do not link it to the President. We fully return it to the applicable legal mechanisms,’ Prasetyo told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, 20 July 2026. He further emphasised that the legal process against the former Jampidsus must follow existing mechanisms. ‘I think it just goes back to the mechanism. I do not think there is any issue, only that during the examination process it requires the President’s permission,’ he said. Previously, Hotman Paris, the legal counsel for Febrie Adriansyah, stated that the naming of his client as a suspect in a corruption and money laundering case related to the handling of the PT Asabri case for the 2020-2024 period was done without President Prabowo Subianto’s approval. He challenged authorities by saying, ‘Ask the National Police Chief why he didn’t ask Mr Prabowo first before doing this to the right-hand man of someone the President is proud of?’ Hotman noted that Febrie is a key member of the President’s Forest Area Control Task Force, which has contributed Rp430 trillion to the state through law enforcement, adding that it was unthinkable that someone the President is proud of would be criminalised without even informing the President.
