State Palace Reveals Honours Ceremony to Be Held a Week After 81st Independence Day

The government will hold a ceremony to confer state honours and decorations as part of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the conferment ceremony is planned to take place one week after the 17 August 2026 commemoration. “It is planned for one week after the proclamation seconds ceremony,” Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. Prasetyo explained that the agenda is still in the finalisation stage, including determining which figures are deemed worthy of receiving the honours. “We are currently finalising it, but we can confirm there will be a lot of variety,” he said. One of the categories under consideration for the honours includes those who have made significant contributions in the field of technology. “There are many individuals whom the team considers deserving of the award, for example in the field of technology, those who hold international patents,” Prasetyo explained.
